Do you ever feel like you’ve lost touch with who you really are? That for years you have shelved your own dreams and desires to prioritize your family, your career or your responsibilities? That you’ve put yourself last?
You are not alone, as Forbes research shows that more than 50 percent of women have given up on their dreams, and where most are quite unhappy because of it.
As a coach for ambitious mothers, I have worked with countless women who felt this way. And honestly, I also know from my own experience that this can be a painful and isolating situation.
For years, I found myself in a similar situation. As a mother of two young children, I put all my energy into caring for them and building a successful coaching practice. I built a business that helped me shake up the entire personal development industry in Europe. I became an international trainer for other coaches and therapists and had a booming business.
Until I realized something to myself…
Living from your head
I realized that I had always been living a life from my head. And had completely ignored my own intuition and sixth sense. And I see so many women doing that: Living life based on what others think. But do not know what they are really made for. Let alone make choices and take steps based on heart desire.
In my extensive career, I have had to deal with the feeling of constantly having to choose. Choosing between working with my head, my reasoning, my logic, or following my intuition, spirituality, and mediumistic gifts. And I generally chose not for myself, my dreams, my desires. But for what others wanted, desired, and expected from me. And in doing so, I was not living my full potential which made me feel unfulfilled and unhappy.
I realized that I had to prioritize my own dreams and desires. And I also realized that it’s never too late to reconnect with my purpose and live the life I really want.
And if you feel like you’re stuck or have put your dreams on hold, I want you to know that it’s not too late for you either.
Inspiration
Here are a few things I’ve learned during my journey that I hope will inspire you to follow your own dreams:
You deserve to pursue your passions
We have many balls to keep in the air as mothers, wives, professionals, friends… But these roles are roles we have, not who we are.
You deserve to pursue your passions and find joy and fulfillment in your life. Whether it’s starting your own business, traveling the world or pursuing a creative hobby, your dreams are important.
It’s never too late to start
No matter how old you are or how long it’s been since you dreamed your dreams, it’s never too late to start. It may feel like there is no time left, but the truth is that you have the choice to make changes at any point in your life when you want to.
Don’t let fear of failure or the belief that it’s too late stop you. Take that first step, and trust that the rest will fall into place.
Dare to ask for help
As women, we often feel like we have to do everything ourselves. But the truth is that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
If you’re stuck or don’t know where to start, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Whether it’s a coach, a mentor or a friend, there are people who really want to help you succeed.
Embrace the journey
Following your dreams is not always easy. There will be setbacks, challenges and moments of self-doubt. But it is important to remember that the journey is as important as the destination.
Embrace the ups and downs, and use every experience as an opportunity to learn and grow. And don’t forget to celebrate every little victory along the way, too.
As someone who has made this journey myself, I know it’s not always easy. But I also know that it is possible to reconnect with your heart’s desire and live a life that truly fulfills you.
