From fear to fight (and peeing in a teapot)

On a deserted railway track

Fear rushing through me, I sit right up. It’s in the middle of the night. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere on the train track between 2 Russian cities. I hear a loud banging on the door of our little night train cabin. A dark, obscure male voice with a heavy Russian accent commands ‘Open the door!’

I hear the rattling of the door lock, I see the doorknob turning… Oh no! We were warned, my mom and I. For dangerous men preying on women traveling alone on the train. We were given an extra safety lock, as these men carry master keys. So knowing the extra safety lock would keep us safe, I sat in silence in my bed. Focusing on the door, the lock, and the knob.

But then the worst thing happened…

Pushing and Holding on

The extra safety lock started to glide. And with a soft bang fell to the ground. And there it was, the famous fight, flight, or freeze moment.

Within a second, my mom and I jumped up. The door started to slide open. I heard his voice and saw his shade coming from underneath the door. And we pushed back as hard as we could. And pushed and pushed.

My mom and I, in the middle of dark Russia, with a man on the other side of the door wanting to rob us, hurt us, or worse. We held the door as closed as we could. As long as we could. Time stood still.

I don’t know how much time passed. Probably somewhere between 1 and 2 hours. We were strong, my mom and I. We were feeling strength and clarity that was bigger than us. And I don’t know how, but we were holding on.

Until…

He was gone.

The teapot

Quickly we re-installed the extra lock, and slowly loosened our grip on the door. And we started to shake. To cry. To breathe again. Still fearing he would come back, we were hyper-alert for a while. No way we would open the cabin door to assess the situation.

And this was a problem. As the tension, stress, fear, and adrenalin had triggered our bladders. We had to pee. Now!

Looking around in the little cabin, my eye fell on the teapot. An old-fashioned kitschy teapot with flowers. And it was empty. But not for long…

Fear

Fighters

Looking back at this night, I realized that we are way stronger than we think. Sometimes you don’t have the option anymore to run away or freeze, and fighting is the only thing you can do or want to do. Then know you have the power, the resilience, the skills, and the fire to fight.

Women who I work with are fighters. They are no longer walking away from their blocks, negative thoughts, and painful emotions. They don’t hide from or suppress their issues either. They show up and do what they need to do.

Because they want to fight for their future. For themselves. For their children. Like I did on that train track. They push through with determination, commitment, and strength. And they don’t have to do that alone. I am having their back. With joined forces until their blocks are gone.

You don’t have to do it alone either. Are you ready for your fight, so you get rid of your demons once and for all? Let’s have a chat in a personal -no strings attached- Transformation Roadmap call. We will map the gap between where you are right now and where you want to be, and create a Transformation Plan with assured results. Schedule your complimentary meeting by clicking this link:
